By bike we go to TUI in the Hoofdstraat in Apeldoorn.
When we enter we are welcomed by a friendly lady who immediately has time for us.
We explain the situation we are in and what we want, namely a few weeks to the heat and preferably as soon as possible. And we also tell you which destinations we have thought of, and that we don't feel anything for an all-inclusive hotel, we want to be able to look around and decide for ourselves where we eat.
According to the lady, southern Europe is off this time of year, it is not that warm there at the moment. We should go further south, for example the Canary Islands or Cape Verde. Gambia and Senegal are also warm countries. And otherwise to South-East Asia. We are immediately told that it can be difficult to find something, it is very busy and many flights and hotels are full.

We don't really like islands, it's hard to get away; Africa does not immediately attract us either.
We ask about the possibilities in Asia and specifically Thailand.

The lady comes up with some options, such as a flight to Phuket with 10 to 15 days hotel. And that can be extended to a maximum of 30 days with a return flight from Bangkok, prices from Euro 2300 for two people.

We get two brochures, one for Southeast Asia and one for other warm countries, to look at at home.

When we walk out the door we decide to have a drink at Hotel et le Café de Paris, and that ends up with some food there.

When we get home and also the next day we look through the brochures and we end up in Thailand.
TUI has a number of destinations there that we could go to, Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak, Bangkok and Pattaya.
After some searching on the internet for the accommodations that TUI offers, we end up with three possible hotels, namely in Krabi, Khao Lak and possibly Phuket. They are all hotels with reasonable reviews and all within walking distance of the beach and in a village or town.

In the afternoon we walk back to TUI and present our choices to the same lady. She will look for our first choice, the Krabi La Playa Resort in Ao Nang, Krabi.
The hotel is not full, but all the rooms that TUI has reserved there are occupied. The hotel must be asked if this is still possible. The situation is the same at the second hotel.
The prices of these hotels are higher than the price we heard yesterday, but the hotels seem a lot nicer to us.
We decide to go for the Krabi La Playa Resort, with a flight to Phuket, transport to the hotel, 10 nights in the hotel and a flight back from Bangkok for Euro 3000 of which Euro 1500 to be paid in advance. We have to arrange the trip from Krabi to Bangkok ourselves, fly, bus, bus and train or rent a car. We depart January 25, 2023 and return February 23, 2023, we fly with Emirates with a transfer in Dubai.
Once the hotel has accepted our request, we will receive a final confirmation. That can be the next day, but it can also take up to a week.

We are going to drink a nice beer at Brouwerij & Proeflokaal Puik Bieren before we walk back home.
